Water Leaks – Simple test for presence of water leaks

There is a simple test you can perform to detect the presence of water leaks.

1. Shut down all water appliances and stop using any water on the property (Try to do this overnight or when your requirements are at a minimum)

2. Read water meter. (If water meter is turning at this point double check that no water is being used on the premises)

3. Don’t use water for a known amount of time, e.g. 1 hour.

4. Read water meter again.

5. Subtract 2nd meter reading from 1st meter reading to give you the volume of water leaking from your water system over a known length of time.
