Water Leak Detection – Range of techniques we use to locate leaks

For clients with large water networks we offer remote or periodic monitoring services.

The technique we use is Data Logging.

Data logging units are extremely sensitive microphones which record sound frequencies within a water pipe at set time intervals. Once deployed across an entire network they allow us to simultaneously record noise frequencies within the pipes. As the loggers record at time intervals we are able to differentiate between customer usage which give an irregular noise and leak noise which will appear consistent.

Following an initial survey we are able to identify which areas of your network have leaks and limit any leak location survey to the required areas.

In addition to being used upon request to locate suspected leaks, data loggers can be used as a permanent installation allowing us to monitor your network remotely on an ongoing basis. We can collect the data through the GRSM network and notify you of any potential leaks. Our systems can monitor pressure as well as noise allowing us to notify clients as soon as, for instance a fire main loses pressure, ensuring that leaks or excessive usage are identified before the main is required.
